Thursday, June 9th ~ Paint...Paint...Paint

The kids have been wanting to paint all week so today was the day.  B had a little bird house to paint that Grandma B had left for him and Carter had a little bird house as well as the bird house he made for his teacher.

B was pretty into his painting, once he was finished with the bird house he was trying to get his hands on everything and anything he could paint...including blank pieces of cardboard.  I'm not sure the paint was even dry before he was out back behind the shed finding a place to hang it!

After painting his name on the bird house Carter made for his teacher, he headed outside to oil it.  He made the bird house by himself with some help from Great Grandpa Swayze.  Not only did they make one..but they had to make three...one for grandpa, one for us and one for his teacher!  Dad dropped the oil off this afternoon and so Carter was eager to get at it.  I tried to help him a bit and he would have nothing to do with that "I know how mom"...thus I left him be and he did a great job!

Wednesday, June 8th - Baseball...

Carter has been playing baseball for a number of weeks now and I have neglected to snap any pics. Tonight it was a relatively nice night out...still need your jacket and Corbin his toque...but compared to what we have had for weather lately....it was a "nice" evening.

Here are a few from his game tonight.  If you can't tell, he LOVES baseball...in fact can be a little too intense from time to time with some of the kids in their first year!

Tuesday, June 7th ~ Celebration of Life

This afternoon I attended the "Celebration of Life" of a lady that was very dear to me.  Barb lost her fight with ovarian cancer last week and today we celebrated her life and all that she offered to all of us.  I had the pleasure of working for Barb & Henry throughout all of my high school years.  They were wonderful to me and we became more like family than employer/employee.  I learned a lot from the two of them and they treated me great.  I not once had to miss a volleyball game, curling bonspiel, ball tournament...the list goes on!

In the years since high school I have had the opportunity to work a couple of times a year when they would head to their buying convention in Winnipeg.  Judy and I always enjoyed those couple of Saturday's together...bringing back old memories.  We had lot's of giggles at that place!

Barb, you were an amazing woman.  Family meant everything to you and you would do anything for your family and those close to you.  You will be dearly missed.  May you rest in peace....

Friday, June 3rd ~ Hair Cut

Today was another miserable day weather wise.  We started the morning by having the ladies and kids over for coffee.  A great visit by all!  Anyone who has been in our basement ladies knows that it is a disaster...literally looks like the toy box puked all over the entire basement.  Well...funny story.  I said to the kids in the afternoon, "Maybe we should clean the basement this afternoon."  B's response was, "Ya because P and B sure made a big mess."  I had to laugh to myself as I wondered if he was a little delirious and forgot what is looked like prior to the company!  Kids.....

So Carter has been bugging me every time we go for hair cuts that he wants his hair all cut off to be just like dad.  I broke down tonight and said ok.  My thought is if he does it now, it will be grown back by pictures when they start back to school in the fall!  Here are the pics from before and after.

Today I did it...I put Corbin in his exersaucer and put a baby movie on....feel really guilty about it but he was a clingy boy today and I just needed a few minutes.  Although he did seem to really enjoy it.

(Don't mind the mess...trying to get some laundry done!)

Thursday, June 2nd ~ Hail at 7 a.m.????

Well we woke up this morning to the sound of hail hitting the bedroom window.  Personally found it a little strange to have hail at 7 in the morning but hey, there has been nothing normal about our weather lately!  Carter wasn't too sure about the storm...he still remembers a couple of the bad ones that we had last summer.  The other two boys slept right through it!  Carter and B sure had fun picking the hail after!

Today at lunch I was invited out with the Town and R.M. crew to a noon luncheon.  To my surprise I sat and had lunch with our Premier.  It was very interesting and he sure seems like a genuinly nice person.  I do have to say that I did really want to get a dig in about the teachers and lack of support they seem to be getting from the government but the conversation didn't really have the right opportunity to do so!!
